Spaghetti with Spicy Meat Sauce

This is a great go to recipe, as it never fails as everyone loves a spaghetti bolognese.  Traditionally the meat sauce would omit the chilli, which of course you can still do, but if you prefer a rich, meaty tomato sauce with a wee hit of spicy heat, then please keep the dried chilli flakes.

Instructions

  • Make meat sauce:

  • 02 Add chopped onion and soften. Add garlic.
  • 03 Add minced beef, chilli flakes, salt and black pepper and brown.
  • 04 Add tin of tomatoes, cider vinegar, 1 can measure of water and bay leaves.
  • 05 Cover and simmer slowly for approximately 1 hour, either in the oven or on the hob.
  • Cook spaghetti:
  • 06 Place all spaghetti into a large pan of boiling water with 2 tbs olive oil until tender (if really unsure what to do please follow the instructions on packet).
  • To serve:

Notes

I highly recommend to cook this wonderful meat sauce in the oven, as the flavour really does improve with this long slow method.
