Baked Camembert with Peppers
A really easy recipe made with a baked camembert and a selection of soft, sweet oven baked peppers. Deliciously simple, the perfect starter to any dinner party meal or a light supper fix for those who adore a baked cheese.
This delightful recipe I created many moons ago as Food Editor for ABODE, Lifestyle magazine QATAR.

15 mins for camembert, 40 mins for peppers
180˚C
Ingredients
-
1 medium round camembert in a box
-
2 green peppers
-
2 orange peppers
-
2 yellow peppers
-
Extra virgin olive oil
-
Small pitta breads- lightly toasted
Instructions
-
Prepare peppers:
-
01 Wash and clean peppers. Cut in half, remove seeds etc and bake in a hot oven with a good ‘glug’ of olive oil until soft and slightly char grilled around the edges. Remove from the oven and reserve to one side. Keep at room temperature.
-
Bake camembert:
-
02 Fifteen minutes before serving place camembert on a non-stick baking tray and place in the hot oven. Bake for at least 15 minutes and extremely soft to the touch.
-
Serve:
-
03 Allow to cool slightly then quickly and very carefully transfer to a serving plate, placing the cheese on top of the lightly toasted round pita bread. Heavily top with the baked peppers and serve immediately to your guests.
Notes
This is such an easy starter as the peppers can be made well in advance and all that is needed on the night is to cook melt the camembert. If you prefer, serve on a large platter and just let your guest ‘dig’ in and enjoy!
