2021 – JANUARY… Talent Extraordinaire.
Its now 2021 and for me I have entered this new year with a very positive heart. OH MY, what a challenging year 2020 was for us all, however, and even though the world still has challenges ahead with Coronovirus, I am determined with a never fading optimism and positive heart to keep planning and dreaming for JULES, and to continue against adversity to move forward.
So what have I been up to for the month of January?
Well, I am delighted to share that three exciting activities came my way during this new month.
- The Qatar Bake Off 2021, Season Two: selection and final, 02 January 21 & 23 January 21.
- JOTK Spice Souq Qatar visit with the lovely ladies from the American Women’s Association of Qatar (AWAQ), 18 January 21.
- India Republic Day, 26 January 21.
So let me start with The QATAR BAKE OFF, season two. The other events I will post individually.
This TALENT EXTRAORDINAIRE bake off was brought to Qatar by HOLLANDI BAKERY QATAR and organised by the very talented media company Lavendar Media Doha.
This was the second year this very embryonic (to Qatar) cake decorating competition took place. The participants were all amazing amateur cake bakers residing in Qatar. I was invited to join with a team of local judges to find the best CAKE for 2021 and OH MY, it was difficult as the standard of baking and decorating was awesome. All contestants baked and decorated the most impressive cakes I have seen lately coming out of a home kitchen. The event due to the strict governmental Covid19 restrictions took place and commenced with an ONLINE registration and entry. Over 50 submissions were entered and again in controlled conditions, the judges all met to select via images the chosen 25 participants who would attend the grand final.

Once the selection of 25 had taken place, these contestants were informed and then challenged to make, bake and decorate a NOVELTY CAKE for the final competition, set for Saturday 23 January 21 at The White Palace Qatar. As a judge I spent 5 hours viewing, tasting and scoring these talented bakers with their magnificent cakes, and finally the top 8 were selected, then the top 3 and of course a winner crowned.
