Tabasco Spiced Chicken Wings
When it comes to a BBQ or simple party food you cannot beat tabasco spiced chicken wings. These tasty morsels of chicken marinated in an unctuous spicy hot, buttery sauce and roasted until crisp are definitely ‘FINGER LICKIN GOOD’.
A great family favourite and not only the perfect finger food for parties, we enjoy them as a sharing TV dinner snack, especially good when the family comes round to watch TV or a movie.
Ingredients
-
800g to 1 kg chicken wings
-
200g butter- unsalted or salted
-
250ml hot pepper sauce- commercially prepared
Instructions
-
Make spicy pepper sauce:
-
01 Melt butter in a small pan, remove from the heat and mix with hot pepper sauce. Cool.
-
Assemble to bake/bbq:
-
02 Place chicken wings in mixing bowl and pour over the cool peppery butter sauce. Leave to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
-
03 Place in a hot oven and roast until crisp and golden. Also possible to cook on an open barbecue, basting regularly with the spicy sauce during cooking.
-
04 Any remaining sauce can be kept and served for dipping.
Notes
It is possible to let these wings marinate over night. The buttery sauce will solidify but this will melt again during cooking. For the barbecue, and if chilled always best to allow to come to room temperature before placing over hot coals plus due to the excessive amount of spicy sauce, the wings will need to be removed from the liquid and basted with the sauce during cooking. Please note Tabasco sauce is too hot for this recipe, the best sauce to use is a milder liquid brand.
